You Feel Like Home

For the past two years I have been on an incredibly exciting journey. Life stopped being “normal” to me and all sorts of crazy things stating happening. How I have been able to cope with all of it, is beyond me, but this rollercoaster,  that I’m still on, has taken me to places I’ve never been, in the literal and figurative sense.

When I first got to the ship I remember having a hard time accepting where I was and certainly I couldn’t call that place home. Today, I have reached the acceptance stage, but I realized that the big white box was not really my home, but the people in it… they have been home to me. They have given me this comfort that I have needed to survive this place and to survive myself. Incredible people, brave and not so brave sometimes. Sometimes strong, other times not so much, smart, and other times… smarter J. But they’re best quality is the way they love, the way they’ve loved me.  The good, the bad, and the ugly.  You have been there through it all, today I just want to thank you family… for rescuing me….

Personas increíbles, valientes y veces no tan valientes.

And I made it

And I made it

They say all good things come to an end, nothing lasts forever, and it’s true.  But I want my perspective to be different and instead of mourning over what has ended, I want to see it as the beginning of something else, something new, the next level. We have to be wise to recognize when a cycle has come to an end before we miss out on what the next one wants to bring, and even when is hard to let go we just have to trust that is the right thing to do, and the perfect timing. Completely aware of what we’re giving up and completely expectant of what the future holds.

The long introduction was to announce that this cycle of my life has come to an end.  My time in Africa with Mercy Ships will soon be over.At the end of this field service after we leave Sierra Leone, December 2011. This journey started about two years ago when I ventured to the middle of nowhere in Texas to hear about this big white ship that was bringing hope and healing to the people in West Africa. My heart was sold, my soul was longing. After being in Africa for about a year and a half now, and after being blessed, challenged and transformed in ways that are beyond my comprehension, my time is up. It is time to go back home, and start making disciples there, and allow others that are coming behind me to go out and share the love of God in other nations.

For the past two years you all have been supporting me in so many ways. The reason why I have been able to stay here as a volunteer is because of you.  So I am reaching out one last time to invite you to prayerfully consider to partner with me in the last months that I have left with Mercy Ships and to help me get back home, literally. My goal is to raise $3,000.00, which would cover my airfare to Honduras, the payment of the monthly crew fees and medical insurance for the next months with the organization. I know everyone is struggling financially at this time, so any amount is welcomed, $50, $100, $200, $500 or more, whatever you feel in your heart. This is my prayer for you  “May the LORD repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge” Ruth 2.12

I cannot express how grateful I am for this two years that God has allowed to serve the people of Africa, I am humbled and honored for this opportunity and know that what is coming is even better. Thanks for being with me every step of the way your prayers, love and support. May you be richly blessed!

Sean bendecidos abundantemente.

Dulce
